update-alternatives has never been used in the RPMs we provide via the NVIDIA
server. Seems you've configured yourself this on openSUSE 13.2.

I suggest to play around with LD_PRELOAD and/or LD_LIBRARY_PATH (see man ld.so
for details) and write a small script to start your 3rd party application.
