After reading up on fuse file system documentation at https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/filesystems/fuse.txt I now see why default filesystem permissions changed, it seems to be the default behavior for all fuse filesystems. I think if the default is to be changed the solution is in the same documentation in the sections starting with "How do non-privileged mounts work?"
