It would have been very helpful if you would have created a new bug report for
this new problem and not hijacked a bug with a complete different problem
meanwhile solved and where the bug is correctly closed as fixed :(

getent passwd should return all entries, local and NIS.
If not:
- errors in journalctl?
- nscd running?
