on a slightly related note:
on my Tumbleweed laptops, kernels tend to accumulate, because they are updated
every few days, but I only reboot my laptop every few weeks/months.
It is using suspend-to-RAM most of the time.

And that makes dracut pretty slow.
Workaround is
systemctl restart purge-kernels
