This must be without zypper

  sudo rm etc/modprobe.d/90-keyboard-workaround.conf

And reboot, choose the newly installed kernel and test.  You have to choose the
right kernel explicitly in GRUB menu as it'll appear mostly at the bottom of
the list even if it was a new kernel.
