Comment # 17 on bug 965505 from Victor Victor

I've tried so many things to fix tearing that I can barely remember them all
now...

I have tried enabling DRI3 somewhere, but it doesn't seem to work.

I have tried switching to Compton, by adding it as a launch program, but it
doesn't seem to start up.

I've uploaded the two X config files I have tried writing.

Only adjustment to SMPlayer is to make it use all 3 CPU cores.

I have just tried playing the video files again, for some time, but I don't
seem to get the original error message any more.

I don't remember any stalls in the video, and I haven't seen anything the few
times I have moved my cursor while playing it.
