I tested various kernels on the openSUSE 13.1 system, including the latest KOTD and the latest kernel from SLED 11 SP3, and the artifacts were present all the time. Then I updated the SLED 11 SP2 system on that machine to SP3, and there are no artifacts there, although the kernel is the same. So the regression is not in the kernel.
