Hi George, I have exactly the same issue with one notebook and two desktops.
Also related with opening Chrome and konqueror, but randomly and not
exclusively.

I have been looking for a solution and your "treatment" is the best I have
found so far. I can confirm it works, and is lesser disruptive than restarting
the system.

This is in freshly installed Leap 42.1 with only packman and nvidia repos in
addition to the originals. Same boxes with 13.2 did not have this issue.

I have no idea if it is related or not, but one of the desktops also falls into
"suspend2 status without any explicit instruction in systemsettings5 and cannot
wake up, requiring to force restart.
