How to reproduce: Open a GPG-signed message. Click on icon that displays GPG sign. Claws Mail crashes. It happens in both cases: inline and attached GPG signature. There were no crashes in version 3.7.10. Crash log attached. The bug was reported upstream: http://www.thewildbeast.co.uk/claws-mail/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=2600 They closed the bug as WORKSFORME. I reopened again. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Select all relevant installation options and arrive at summary screen. 2. Hit install and confirm. Actual Results: If connected, the system's floppy drive becomes exceedingly noisy and is continually polled, even if empty during both the initial and final phase of installation to hard disk. When it hangs, switching between VT's still work, but they are unusable: cannot log in, or see what's going on. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. install sysvinit-init 2. for good measure, reboot at least once to have it run on sysvinit 3. as root either shutdown, reboot of poweroff Actual Results: Starts shutdown sequence. Usually hangs after console message: Shutting down service (localfs) network . . . . . . done But sometimes others as well. When it hangs, the CPU usage goes to 100%, as can be seen on the vmware host. Expected Results: an actual shutdown/poweroff or reboot I can only reproduce this on two VMWare vm's, running on vmware server 2 and VSphere. There's no way to opt out or disable it again. There's no visual indication that this is active. You just cannot type anymore. It makes it nearly impossible to log in, absolutely impossible to switch console or kill the X server, and the only way to recover from it is to reboot, run in run level 3 and delete an undocumented file in /var I only found by grepping. As far as I can tell this is a denial of service attack on any locked or unlogged in system and I would consider it a security issue. In my case i had to switch consoles to login (due to the pam_mount update procedure being ahem less that perfect), so the only way out was actually a power switch. But then after the power switch that slow key DoS was still active. They are always the default one provided by the package when system finishes the installation. Finally I knew that's because the setting file was marked as %config, thus when package installed it would be overwritten to the one in the new/updated package and saved to grub.rpmold. Yes, "cat grub.rpmold" reveals the changes we made that we wanted to persist. Actual Result: setting file was overwritten and saved to grub.rpmold Expect Result: setting file not overwritten anyway .. When installation finished, tried to update the kernel via zypper: $ zypper update kernel-desktop Kernel updated from 3.1.0-1.2-desktop to 3.1.9-1.4 Then I saw resulting config containing entry for removed kernel image (/boot/vmlinuz-3.1.0-1.2-desktop). $ ls /boot/vmlinuz-3.1.0-1.2-desktop ls: cannot access /boot/vmlinuz-3.1.0-1.2-desktop: No such file or directory Reproduce Step: 1. zypper update kernel-desktop Expect Result remove obselete kernel entry in grub2's config, if it was removed. Actual Result: removed and obselete kernel remains in grub2's config. PS. However the device.map looks fine .. it did contains grub/os drive mapping correctly $ cat /boot/grub2/device.map (hd0) /dev/disk/by-id/ata-SAMSUNG_HM250HJ_S2ATJ1KZB00186 Inside grub2-install script, the command line invocation below has trouble: $ /usr/sbin/grub2-probe --device-map=/boot/grub2/device.map --target=drive --device /dev/sda2 expected result: return (hd0,msdos2) actual result: return /usr/sbin/grub2-probe: error: cannot find a GRUB drive for /dev/sda2. However after 12.2 installation, there's no boot entry for 12.1 on the boot menu. Thus no way back to 12.1 ..
