This has worked for years (11.1 -> 11.4) and also work under 12.1 if I reboot on the last 11.4 kernel (vmlinuz-2.6.37.6-0.9). Now the arp table (ip neigh) just grow and fill the table until the kernel block all network communication due to ip neigh overflow Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install 12.1 or use kernel 3.1+ 2. Connect to intensive mac network 3. see ip neigh overflow Actual Results: ip neigh overflow, changing default values only help to get more time to react. network has to be shutdown and restart. We as a temporary fix, use a script to monitor the value of ip neigh show dev eth1 | wc -l and restart the network when it approach the new limits we give. It made my system unbootable! I restored a partimage image and reinstalled all updates except the cryptsetup one and the system boots, so it is this update that wrecks my system. I use an encrypted /tmp and swap consisting of separate partitions that are mounted by crypttab using /dev/urandom to create a random password. There was a message that cryptsetup failed during boot. This update enables package control, and will disable all cards when the firewall is disabled! (read file the description in Yast). *** Requested inclusion in future additions... a way to disable this feature in Firewall & Network settings GUI's (or at least in network area), so that you may use custom iptables for the bridge. The message displayed when you disable SFW2 is "No network traffic is permitted through these interfaces." This is a nice security feature for those that aren't familiar, however, it prevents one ever building and using a network bridge with custom iptables. Could you please include a check box or radio button to disable the network being disabled when SuSE FW2 is disabled, please? And on a side note, not related: Many people are having problems with Realtek Gigabit ethernet cards w/ driver r8169 ... your drivers are fine!!! Do not waste any time on them. it's a problem elsewhere, perhaps systemd vs sysvinit-init that people are using. Ifup does not like DHCP at all in 12.1 original release.However KNetworkManager works to establish the connection... except that you must go back to ifup to use your bridge.
