On openSUSE /var/lock is reserved for device lock files and must not be used for other purposes. Due to the use of tmpfs on /var/lock the subsys directory does not exist anymore either so if your package used /var/lock/subsys for any real purpose it might be silently broken already. I started this cross-check after installing perl-5.14.1 for my self in production, and comparing all my production scripts for usability against the default available perl modules from the OpenSUSE repositories. I noted e.g. that Text::CSV_XS was "clean", as in it is shipped as perl-Text-CSV_XS without patches. I just committed the only patch that you applied to perl-DBD-CSV. What I miss, and use in may scripts, are Data::Peek, Spreadsheet::Read, Tie::Hash::DBD, and Tk::Clock What I also miss, but seldom use are VCS::SCCS, Text::OutputFilter and Config::Perl::V Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. $ perl -MData::Peek -we'DDumper { bug => "missing" }' Actual Results: Can't locate Data/Peek.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.12.3/i586-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.12.3 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.12.3/i586-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.12.3 /usr/lib/perl5/5.12.3/i586-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/5.12.3 .). Before the upgrade the fan came on at 55C and ran constantly after that, keeping the CPU temperature at about 40C. After the upgrade I fell asleep while listening to a streaming broadcast. I found the CPU temperature to be 93C two hours later when I woke up and found the cooling fans weren't running. I found the temperature from ~cat /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/TZ0/temperature. I had experienced this problem several times as I have installed Opensuse 11.1 and upgraded the software. I was finally able to determine that it is the kernel upgrade that is causing the problem. My laptop is a Toshiba U505-S2950 with a dual Pentium t4300 CPU. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Upgrade the kernel to version 2.6.27.48-0.3.1-x86-64 2. 3. Actual Results: Cooling fans don't activate.
