I upgrade to 11.4 + Tumbleweed shortly after 11.4 came out. I've been running with the 2.6.38.2 kernel with no issues. I just upgraded to kernel-desktop-2.6.38.2-19.1.x86_64 and X fails to start. I've attached my boot.msg file. For now, I'm running the older 2.6.38.2 kernel. Feel free to do this on your 11.4 machines using Tumbleweed. Since kernel update seems to trigger the issue for you I guess you're going to hit the problem there with the highest probability. Also if you redirect the fuser output to a file in /tmp (or even /root), you don't need to pay close attention. Just once in a while check whether the file got created and if so, attach it here. I have gone to the compiz site and ran the scripts. I launch the desktop effects dialog box, I don’t get the warning I am use to. I clicked on the enable desktop effect and all looks OK. But after closing the dialog box, nothing is in effect.
