Hi. Has anybody had any success installing SuSE with an Alva Braille terminal? I can't even try this operating system, about which I heard so many good reports that I went out and bought it. I can't get my Alva to be recognised on boot-up. Is this a known issue, and or is there a solution? I'm excited about what I've read and heard about SuSE, I think it has a lot of potential for the visually impaired user, but until I can install it myself, I can't really recommend it to my clients. I would also be interested to know whether there is a speech package which will work with SuSE? People have mentioned Speakup and EmacSpeak, but more info would be welcome and appreciated.
Kind regards, Gordon Smith.

I made a speech-package for suse look at ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/prjoects/blinux/mbrola please download the rpm and from leb.net/pub/blinux/mbrola the en1 speech-database the german version works very well, but the english phoneme creater is not very stable - just try it -
good luck
marco
