Sorry for the confusion, but I open a separate thread for this bug now, because it does not depend on the <global> parameters in the profile as I wrote before (the subject was meant to be "bug with timeout", not "but with timeout" :-)) It seems like the timeout value for lilo.conf get's a "0" added whenever it is read in YaST. On some systems it grows above the allowed value, on others not (that's why I thought it was depending on the global values). My bootloader profile is only this: <bootloader> <loader_type>lilo</loader_type> <loader_device>/dev/sda</loader_device> <location>custom</location> </bootloader> Nothing about the timeout option. But the generated lilo.conf I find: timeout = 80000 causing AY to throw an error. This is a real stopper, because as far as I understand I cannot alter the lilo.conf file before lilo is called once, only after it (with a chroot script), but I don't get there as AY hangs before. Any idea what I could do? If you think it's not an AY but a YaST bug, I can file a support request via the Novell SLES Support if that helps getting resources to work on it. I've done that for the problem with the unsigned repositories where you assumed that it was a problem in YaST/the installer. Hi, it seems that global options are ignored for lilo. Additionally, "timeout=80000" is inserted into lilo.conf, stopping the AY bootloader configuration. My bootloader profile for SLES 11 looks like this: <bootloader> <loader_type>lilo</loader_type> <loader_device>/dev/sda</loader_device> <location>custom</location> <global config:type="list"> <global_entry> <key>prompt</key> <value config:type="boolean">true</value> </global_entry> <global_entry> <key>vga</key> <value>normal</value> </global_entry> <global_entry> <key>timeout</key> <value>80</value> </global_entry> <global_entry> <key>message</key> <value config:type="boolean">false</value> </global_entry> <global_entry> <key>large-memory</key> <value config:type="boolean">true</value> </global_entry> </global> </bootloader> The resulting lilo.conf (that I see when I login with ssh after AY stopped with an error about the timeout value) is this: # Modified by YaST2. Last modification on Fr Apr 17 13:05:23 UTC 2009 menu-scheme = Wb:kw:Wb:Wb timeout = 80000 lba32 change-rules reset prompt default = Linux boot = /dev/disk/by-id/ata-WDC_WD2500JS-60MHB5_WD-WCANKH180905 ... (sections) Thus: - large-memory not added - timeout wrong - vga not added prompt/message might have been ignored, too, and just set as default, I'm not sure. Do the global options not work at all? [opensuse-autoinstall] AY changes types of existing partitions :-(

Hi, in SLES 11 I'm using e.g. this profile for partitioning: <partitioning config:type="list"> <drive> <device>/dev/sda</device> <partitions config:type="list"> <partition> <create config:type="boolean">false</create> <filesystem config:type="symbol">vfat</filesystem> <format config:type="boolean">false</format> <fstopt>defaults</fstopt> <mount>/dos</mount> <partition_nr config:type="integer">1</partition_nr> <partition_type>primary</partition_type> <mountby config:type="symbol">device</mountby> </partition> The partition existed already and had id=7 (HPFS/NTFS). When installing, AY didn't recreate any partititions, just formatted some as it was told to. But after the installation, the id of /dev/sda1 was "83" instead of "7", preventing Windows XP from booting. Up to SLES 10 SP2, AY never changed my windows partitions with the above config and it should stay like that in SLES 11! There is absolutely no sense in changing the partition type if create and format are both FALSE. Is this a bug or do I need to set a new flag or sth. to prevent this? cu, Frank -- Dipl.-Inform. [opensuse-autoinstall] bootloader section doesn't xml validation

Hi, the <global> element in the <bootloader> section isn't accepted in SLES 11. [opensuse-autoinstall] Adding packages to profile triggers error message

Hi, I try to install sles 11 via autoyast. I did an installation from dvd, and pulled an autoyast profile. This profile works, and can be installed via pxe. Now I want to add the following packages: findutils-locate, dhcp-server, bind, apache2, vsftpd, nfs-kernel-server I do this via the gui. I have also tried to do it with an editor, as the gui messed up profiles in sles10sp2. In both cases, after the first reboot, I get the errormessage: "The package resolver run failed. Please check your software section in the aut" [oyast profile] (last part invisible, I guess it should be the software section in my autoyast profile :-)) This a real problem, as I have to confirm this message, thus it stops the autoinstall process. After confirming, the autoinstall process continues. Right bevor I can log in, I get "Could not update ICEauthority file /var/lib/gdm/.ICEauthority" I confirm, and get: "There is a problem with the configuration server. (/usr/lib/GConf/2/gconf-sanity-check-2 exited with status 256)" I confirm, and can log in. Theses messages are presistend after reboot. Its annoying, but not a stopper like the first problem. [opensuse-autoinstall] opensuse 11.1 autoyast postinstall script and autofs

Hello, I had a postinstall script that worked under 11.0 but doesn't with 11.1. It doesn't do anything complicated but it uses autofs to copy some files from a server and nfs doesn't seem to be started at the time the script runs even though I try to start it from the script. Does anyone else have this problem? [opensuse-autoinstall] Community repository for autoyast?

Hello, as I noticed from a problem with autoyast and printer configuration there has been a problem with autoyast/yast2-printer in OpenSUSE 11.1: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=464364 I know that this problem was not in autoyast itself, but there surely was and will be something similiar from time to time :-) Is there a community repository or something similar for autoyast available for getting updates of this module quickly without the need of waiting for the next OpenSUSE release? [opensuse-autoinstall] No root login available

Hello, after a first successful installation of openSUSE 11.1 via autoyast I noticed that I can't login as root or do a "su". I only can login as normal user. Is there a option that I have to activate when I want to do so? Thanks!
