Unable to find profiles

Here is my info file on a floppy disk: =============== Install: nfs://205.155.157.16/usr/local/SuSE Serverdir: /usr/local/SuSE AutoYaST: nfs://205.155.157.16/usr/local/SuSE/autoinst.xml DHCP: 1 UseDHCP: 1 Netdevice: eth0 Gateway: 205.155.157.254 Server: 205.155.157.16 Nameserver: 198.189.12.23 InstMode: nfs Textmode: 0 ============ I use the SuSE 9.1 disc 1, and choose "Install" during boot. The install process sends a DHCP request through eth0, and the autoinstall begins. When the progress bar reaches 28%, I get this dialog: "A profile for the machine could not be found or retrieved. Today I use same autoinst.xml file with CD as the source media and it works ok that's mean there is no problem with the autoinst.xml file. But I need to figure out with NFS server as source media. Apparently there is some problems with my server setup. Here what I did to setup my nfs server that works ok last week and does not work now and giving error "Error while configuring software selection. As I wrote earllier, I am using sun java desktop rel 2 (SJDS) and trying to implement auto installation using autoyast, floppy and NFS server. I was able to install SJDS from nfs server as source media by following steps: copy all the cds ( 1,2,3) in my NFS server (/jds/install) using mount /media/cdrom cd /media/cdrom cp -va . /jds/install set up the nfs server --working ok create 3 floppy disk ( boot, modules1 and module3) and autoinst.xml file in floppy 3 create info file in floppy 2 It worked ok last friday but when I try to install agian after some fine tuning today in autoinst.xml ( minor change in partioning) getting following error: "Error while configuring software selections. Please try again." It occurs in Prepare system for automated Installation in Configure boot loading. I haven't changed anything in my server source media that works ok last week. problem when adding a group with the graphical editor

Hi, Thanks for the help with the opteron from IBM and the broadcom chip ;) I've managed to install it adding a DHCPTimeout on the APPEND line... But, we are moving toward Sun's opteron and they don't have the same revision so everything'll works fine. But, I've another problem : I create my autoyast.xml with the GUI, and I can't create group. Everything works fine whe I create the group, but when I click on finish, the group disappear, as if I never created it. I've tried several time, and it's always the same. Any idea ? I've search the documentation to see how I can manually add a group definition, but I can't find this information. Working autoyast file ?

Hi all, Can anyone provide me with a working autoyast file to start from, as well as any additional information about loading drivers, etc. ? I've done a setup of a SLES9 RC1 machine and then generated a reference profile from that machine - this doesn't work however... The boot process happens and the installation starts. I then get a screen that looks roughly as follows: Left Pane: Please wait while the system is prepared for autoinstallation Right Window: [x] Probe Hardware => Retrieve read control file - ... - ... The bar at the bottom of this screen stops at 28% and it goes nowhere. This is the very same machine that I used to create the reference profile, so I'm confused as to why it's not working :( Regards, -- Wayne Pascoe

Just before autoyast normally tries to partition the disks, I get a warning about /opt needing 2.02GB more space - please delete some packages. At this point, if I switch to console 2 and fdisk -l /dev/sda I see the primary and extended partitions that were there when I created the reference profile. If I switch back to the autoyast screen and select OK, the partitioning begins. Once partitioning is finished, all I have is 4 partitions. The 4th partition is type 5, extended, which is what I was expecting, but neither /var or /opt has been created in there. I then changed this xml slightly to remove the region blocks, and I specified a size of max for both partition 4 (the extended partition) and partition 6 (/opt). I get exactly the same results with this though. Can anyone advise me how to do the following please: 1. Create both primary and extended partitions where the extended partition takes up the rest of the disk after /, /boot and swap have been extended. and 2. Create logical partitions in the extended partition where the final logical partition takes up all available space on the drive. Regards, -- Wayne Pascoe

autoYast2 creates invalid XML

I have used the "autoinstall" feature of YaST to create a profile, and then try to validate it. It comes back with the following errors. Shouldn't it create a valid profile, especially as I have no way of choosing the window manager. autoyast does not validate Errors in security.dtd ?

SuSE 9.1 autoyast2-installation-2.9.34-1 autoyast2-2.9.34-1 It seems as if /usr/share/autoinstall/dtd/security.dtd is missconfigured and therefore the validiation of an ENTITY security does not work in autoyast: 1. passwd_encryption is listed twice in Line 1: <!ENTITY % y2_security "console_shutdown| cracklib_dict..... 2. encryption is not listed in Line 1 but defined as ELEMENT 3. The line <!ELEMENT security (%y2_security;)*> is missing leaving security undefined... only the local y2_security is defined, but in profile.dt security is used ... if in Line 1 one of the two "passwd_encryption" is changed to "encryption" AND a line: <!ELEMENT security (%y2_security;)*> is added all seems to be okay.
