[opensuse-artwork] Holiday Season Banner
As our current banners around the web are starting to get stale, I suggest we create some holiday web banners. They would be posted at: - Forums - www.opensuse.org landing page - Facebook Timeline cover (851x315 px) - Google+ - icons for Twitter, Facebook Profile Pic, etc. I recommend that we be careful though. Do not make the banner religious, do not target a specific religion (for example, I'm Jewish, so Christmas means nothing.) It should either be broad (Season's Greetings + Happy New Year) or inclusive (All major holidays represented across multiple denominations). The latter one being more difficult and challenging to do. Currently, the openSUSE Election Committee is using these spaces to broadcast the upcoming Board elections. But we'll be finished with that by Dec. 17th, so new holiday banners can be posted at that time. It might be a good idea to review and develop time-appropriate banners that can be used later down the line throughout the year so we don't scramble with creativity at the last minute. Thanks! Definitively a great idea. Let us take a look and propose some ideas. Thank you Andy (anditosan) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org

I used a very generic idea about the profile pic for the holidays. I tried identifying openSUSE through the lemon green and the seasonal image through the snowflake and the red at the bottom. Hopefully you like it. http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h414/anditosan/holidays.png It fits facebook and also twitter. Looks good, just contrast for "Holidays" and "SUSE"is too low. (When you have eye glasses world looks a bit different :) -- Regards, Rajko. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org

This time problem is between red and black. Black appear brown, due to surrounding red. How about previous dark red and white letters there, and black letters in the green area? Or just bigger bold sans serif letters in a color that is in contrast with both. -- Regards, Rajko. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org

Nice one Andy, simple and elegant, I like it a lot. (would you make the text a tiny bit bigger?) If you have time, could you make something that says '5000 Likes' 'thank you for your support' or something like that for the Facebook page? I think the text is going to be extremely unreadable as a profile pic on Facebook openSUSE Page. It is just too small. For a profile pic, I would probably go with something like Geeko wearing a Santa hat or as an example, Grinch here: http://img2-1.timeinc.net/ew/img/review/011123/grinch_l.jpg While these banners are primarily going on openSUSE pages and whatnot, we'd hope that people find them cutesy enough that they'd want to post it on their own profile pic for the time being. Much like when we have people put the 3D-Geeko on their profile pic during distro release times.
