Hi All, I know voting has already begun in our quick poll but I'd like you to consider these my refined versions of my previous drafts First, one based on the black background with green elements, but with all the text and excess clutter removed. http://www.sysrich.co.uk/121wallpaper/draft8.png and then for fun, added a Geeko in the middle http://www.sysrich.co.uk/121wallpaper/draft11.png realising that most dont like dark backgrounds, also made a brighter one, which I'm really quite happy with how it came out http://www.sysrich.co.uk/121wallpaper/draft9.png and again, with a Geeko http://www.sysrich.co.uk/121wallpaper/draft10.png (SVG's available at the same URLs just change the file extension) Please consider these over my previous submissions, unless you really really prefer my previous submissions, in which case, thanks! But this is why I like it: 1. The absence of solid and sharp shapes - This is important to me because the human brain will try to make the users focus on sharp and solid shapes to identify and process them. It's because of this that people get tired after some time from watching to a wallpaper. So in a way you've kept it to the minimum which eventually is good and won't tire so much the users. 2. No text - Text shouldn't be allowed in wallpapers or splashscreens, in fact it's for example one of the basic rules on Fedora Design Team. This brings technical problems on scalling images and other tiny aspects. 3. Green - Despite green provides some technical dificulties (as Will mentioned earlier, unless the monitors are properly calibrated it might appear in different tones in different monitors/chipsets), it's one of the most widely accepted colors by people (cognitive thingie). Furthermore, green is one of the few colors which check without issues in most cultures, thus removing some cultural barriers that other colors have, which is awesome for us since we are a universal distribution. This to say, it's the one which would suit my needs, but like I said before, while it's nice for a wallpaper, I'm not really sure if it would fit well for a splash image. [opensuse-artwork] Big Picture Idea

Hi friends It has come to our attention in recent times that we are all trying to work out the upcoming openSUSE release artwork. Generally the process occurs the same way, we see that there are just a few weeks ahead and we need to get the artwork done for the release. We dig around, make proposals, discuss changes and, more often than not, we want to make desing decisions that are simply to big that we cannot make them for the upcoming release. Therefore, we move these bigger design ideas for a later time and the process repeats itself once the next release is close. It would be a great thing if we could work out a bigger plan now, or after release, so that we become more united as a team and make coherent and correlated design decisions for openSUSE. We have the enthusiasm and people needed to have openSUSE be the most beautiful linux distro out there. So that is my question. Are we willing to correlate our efforts and design at a meeting, either now or after the release of 12.1? If so, when is a good time to meet (IRC, or G+ Hangout)? [opensuse-artwork] animations anyone?

Hi, While the discussion about the wallpaper artwork is important: do we have someone here capable of creating animations? Right now our "animations" are bound to simple progress bars, even though we can do a lot more. They have to be limited, because you still want to boot and not play movies, but we can play e.g. MNG files that go beyond boxes.
