I had another look at our armv5 qemu-accel rpm
and found a way to speed it up by another 50% (excl rpm time):
using x86_64 rpm and rpmbuild are still broken:
psmisc-22.16-0.armv5tel is intended for a different
The build script is using --ignore-arch, so it should not matter?
Tracing it with gdb is not very helpful either:

GDB will be unable to debug shared library initializers
and track explicitly loaded dynamic code.
May be caused by glibc, it loads one of its libs without taking care
about the sysroot. We have an ugly workaround for that in armv7l creating the right
hardlink. Check the %post section of the armv7l variant.
