And below that, there are these minor numbers: #define LOOP_SET_FD 0x4C00 #define LOOP_CLR_FD 0x4C01 #define LOOP_SET_STATUS 0x4C02 #define LOOP_GET_STATUS 0x4C03 #define LOOP_SET_STATUS64 0x4C04 #define LOOP_GET_STATUS64 0x4C05 #define LOOP_CHANGE_FD 0x4C06 #define LOOP_SET_CAPACITY 0x4C07 So maybe this is a bogus SET_STATUS? No idea. But failing it seems to make losetup happy, so we could just not print out a warning for it. I checked in a quick hack patch to be silent on LOOP_CTL_GET_FREE and just fail it, which should make losetup fall back to the old searching way of finding a loop device. I'll also try to cook up a real patch to implement the actual ioctls, but no promises yet.
