If we want to make this better, we need to: 1. make a propwer raspberry kernel package in OBS instead of reusing debian's kernel.
I have something working based on linux-3.1 https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/130672 I tried porting patches to something more current, but did not get beyond linux-3.3 so far, because of "sched_clock" changes.
- find/solve the illegal instruction problem in latest zypper http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-arm/2012-07/msg00087.html
Dirk did fix that. thanks.
- make a generic armv5 kiwi image build https://build.opensuse.org/project/monitor?arch_armv5el=1&defaults=0&...
This
should build once openmpi, boost and libsolv-tools build and also libjpeg, libmng, qt4, qt3 needed for pinentry (or we drop that) Might take another week or two. Would be good to not have so many full rebuilds. Especially if it is only because packages are older than 3 months.
- make a special pi kiwi image that includes bootloader+kernel
Still to be done. This will need https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?package=raspberrypi-firmware&pro... and kernel-raspberrypi Where is the best place for this? made a new image: http://zq1.de/~bernhard/linux/opensuse/raspberrypi-opensuse-20120812.img.gz now with proper kernel and firmware rpms disabled overscan via /boot/config.txt, so that there is no black border on my HDMI 1920x1080 display anymore used the start.elf for 224MB free RAM also added rsync and X11+icewm on fbdev - just use startx on the downside it is now 40MB larger.
