Hi, has someone not only installed SUSE 9,3 on a Tyan S4882 but also succesfully booted after installation? Tyan S4882 with 8GB RAM, 4 x Opteron 848 and a 3ware 9500-12 SATA Controller works fine during installation. After the first reboot I got a Kernel Panic. We have the same Tyan running with 32GB RAM without problems under Suse 9.1. We don't even think about an update. Suse 9.2 should also work. - Do you have any strange PCI-hardware on the PCI-slots or are they free? You should remove any PCI-hardware. - Did you tried some boot-options as 'iommu=noforce' etc. or simply the Save-Settings boot option Suse always installs? PS. The 'suse-linux' group shows up many people who have strange hardware (and some software) problems on 9.3. Its not always best to install the newest Suse Version. You should try 9.2 instead, 9.3 is maybe too new for such an exotic system as the Tyan 4882 is. Not many people have such a system and so bugs killing takes a bit longer. Regards, N. I had an eventfull week on other hardware but loads of pci and interrupt related problems. These were all solver for me when I used pci=routeirq as an extra boot parameter. BB, Arjen

thanks. Will try it tomorrow on another machine of th same type. The first one is running FC3 now without any problems. Michael

Tyan Bios Setup Defaults is "ACPI SRAT Table: Enabled", (Node memory interleave is then Disabled) -> Kernel Panic Switching ACPI SRAT Table: to "Disabled" SUSE boots now. FC3-Kernel boots whatever I choose. Michael
