External USB Keyboard recognition
Hi all, I'm have 64-bit (obviously right?) SuSE 9.2 installed on a Compaq Persario laptop. I am trying to get an external keyboard hooked up to it because I'm used to using the "natural" style keyboards and while i'm at my desk I'ld like to type on that. There is no ps/2 port on this laptop just USB, just an FYI. I can't seem to figure out how to get SuSE to recognize the keyboard, its not automatically detected at boot and nor can I find anything in Yas or in a google search to help me figure out how to do this. Anyone know? Thanks, Ken -- ------s----a----m----s----i----x----e----d----d------ -- Ken Southerland Senior Consultant Sam Six EDD, Inc. 503-236-4288 http://www.samsixedd.com

Hi Ken, I would recommend installing 9.3 or 10.0. I had intermittent trouble with my USB keyboard and mouse with SUSE 9.2 x86_64 (on a desktop machine). About 1 time out of 5 the keyboard would work at the GRUB menu, but then SUSE would not recognize it (or the mouse) while booting. I would have to shut down then turn it back on to get it to work. I never had this problem with 9.3. I have not had this problem yet with 10.0 (just installed RC1 over the weekend). If I remember correctly, 9.2 was known to be flakey with USB hotplugging.
