I've uploaded 2.6.5 AMD64 Linux kernel to ftp.suse.com/pub/people/aj/Kernel-AMD64/ The kernels contain a lot of fixes since 2.6.4, including even some backports from 2.6.6 and 2.6.6. Btw. the kernels should also work with the Nvidia driver. If you encounter problems with the kernel, please tell me directly. just again my naiv question: if install these rpms do i have to reinstall the nvidia driver then ? i ask because i don't want a Xserver crash after the next reboot and on the other side i don't like to reinstall nvidia when it isn't necessary... best regards Franz Mit schönen Grüßen von Yahoo! Yes, you have to reinstall the drivers. With every driver download and install with YOU the kernel module gets installed to /lib/modules/<kernel-version>-default/kernel/drivers/video/nvidia.ko so if you install a new kernel the driver needs to reside in the said directory of the _new_ kernel. Thus if you don't reinstall the driver after a kernel update it's just not installed at all. have fun MIchael Am Dienstag, 1. Juni 2004 15:41 schrieb Franz Mach:

Seems smooth, except .. ah well, I guess there is no fix for a buggy bios. Stil no speed stepping on my system. I even manually applied this patch here: http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&selm=1VbXu-5cz-1%40gated-... Which says it could help. Btw if someone applies it, it has a typo in the penultimate line which replaces the same typo btw. Swap BFX with PFX. BB, Arjen

I am trying to reconfigure vmware and it says that the file Module.symvers is missing. Is there any way to recreate that short of doing a full source build? I installed the source and the smp rpms. Thanks, edward On Tue, 01 Jun 2004 14:20:40 +0200 Andreas Jaeger <aj@suse.de> wrote:

Actually it's complaining about genksyms not being present. What is the correct procedure to build something like vmware? I think last time i symlinked the programs it was looking for (found in the <kernel>-obj directory) to where it was looking for them in the src tree. thanks again! edward On Wed, 2 Jun 2004 17:20:58 -0400 edward winston <ewinston@kdi.com> wrote:

for quick 'n dirty results unzip, rename and move of /boot/symvers-...-default.gz should work. /ur

I observed a reboot every time I switch to runlevel S from runlevel 5, when running this kernel. Can aynone else confirm this? BB, Arjen
