Suse 9.1 looses all sound settings

When I restart my computer (yes, I know, linux should be running all day and night long), suse9.1 looses all sound-settings. I have a VIA 823x rev60 (on board) with ALSA-driver. I have to delete the soundcard, add it again (quick setup) and everything works fine again. Is there a kind of "save-feature/button" I missed? Thanx, Gery

I have the same problem with a soundblaster live 5.1. I noticed that everytime I restart X the sound resets to a muffled default where only some heavy bass sounds are heard. All I have to do is run the sound card tool in YAST and the settings are restored as it is scanning the devices. It is quite annoying however.

Yes there's a program for that, try #alsactl save (i thought that this would be made automatically by YaST ? ) I had a greater problem with my Realtek ALC 655 onboard,i couldn't get anything out of it except noise; i tried all the settings in YaST - then i changed to the OSS driver that works good but i couldn't get the esound-demon running i hope someone can tell my why the esound crashes as i posted yesterday here ...

Just installed the kernel 2.6.5-7.98cvs20040702142159 and my sound-problem seem to have vanished. I'll be examining the behaviour for the next few days... Good job, SuSE! Gery
