SPAM: how much RAM can SUSE 10.1 support
Hi! I bought this Suse 10.1 and I am using this for specialised computational biology work. I have a 2x dual core opteron processor (in total 4 opterons!) loaded ona K8N-DL mother board which can support upto 24 GB memory. I am currently working with 4GB RAM. I want to know if I can put 24 GB RAM and whether Suse 10.1 can handle this much of RAM. The K8N-DL would require 4GB DIMMs for that much memory which are very expensive and hard to get. Different configurations (like a 4way) board with 1 or 2GB DIMMs might be actually cheaper. It's also important to set the BIOS MTRR settings to continuous on the K8N-DL for much memory.
