Hi, sorry for the double-post, but I do not know if this is 64-bit specific, as I do not have 32-bit intsallation to test.
I do..
Anyway: SuSE 10 x86_64 kernel 2.6.13-15.8-default xorg - 6.8.2-100.2 ati prop. driver - 8.22.5-x86_64 (tried 8.21.7 - same problem) videocard - ATI X800 - ExpressPCI videocard ATI X700 AGP
Looks like the problem is with the ati proprietary driver, as if I uninstall it and use the generic one, everything works just fine.
It probably is as I have much the same problem. I don't even have to log in as another user. Just switch to a console, and then try to get back. System hangs and forces a hard reset. Now, this is only on my 32 bit system, as my 64bit won't accept the ati driver (laptop) Mike -- Powered by SuSE 10.0 Kernel 2.6.13 KDE 3.4 Kmail 1.8 For Mondo/Mindi backup support go to http://www.mikenjane.net/~mike 7:00pm up 5:07, 3 users, load average: 2.34, 2.30, 2.28
