HP 6110 on 64bit

Hi, I cannot use the scanner on my hp 6110 combination FACS, printer, scanner, copier. (The printer is fine, the copier is stand alone, and I don't use the FACS.) SANE produces the message "no device available". The help and documentation implies that the "backend" may not be installed. I cannot find the mentioned module sane-dll. I understand the idea that a "backend" is required, but I have no idea how to test/provide for same. I checked the hpoj web site but cannot determine which driver I ought to use, and there appears to be no mention of a 64 bit version. I am running SuSE 9.1 on AMD64. Thanks for any ideas.
