You need to install the Nvidia driver from www.nvidia.com/object/linux.html . That should fix the problem. You may want to install the nForce drivers also. That fixed a sound problem I had. The instructions are available with the download.

Hello! I have an Asus L5000 laptop with a nVidia GeForce FX graphics card and things are running reasonably well. However, wen I press [Ctrl][Alt][F1] to escape the X environment into a text-only interface, my screen gets out of sync! Does anybody know of a simple fix to this? Thanks, Ze
