The 2.6.11 kernel does not cater properly for the Turion CPUs.
Your best bet is to install the latest 2.6.13 kernel, see link below for instructions, or you can upgrade to SuSE 10 (If you can get your hands on it already)
This is how I got my problems sorted out:
The only problem I had afterwards was to get vmware workstation installed, as it requires the version of gcc that the kernel was compiled with and for that you need to upgrade to SuSE 10 or recompile your kernel.
