I know this is the marketing space of the opens suse but can I ask a question ? 1. I need a 11.2 and 11.3 DVD for my self and help promote the brand to others 2. What have you done already for openSUSE? Firstly I helped some of my friends migrate from the world of windows to the world of Open Source with openSUSE. Along with Stathis (diamond_gr) we are trying to make a Greek edition of openSUSE: Education-Li-f-e inserting Greek school books among other stuff. What are your plans for promoting openSUSE? As the Event manager of Greeklug(HTTP://WWW.GREEKLUG.GR<http://www.greeklug.gr/>), I can create some events, participate in events organized by other local lugs I'm in contact with promoting openSUSE all over my country. I am planning in participate also in every major technological event in my country (like Fosscom) spreading openSUSE challenging people to try it, have it and love it like I did. Are you ready to start promoting openSUSE? I was born ready. I already started creating various things in order to make my presentations unforgettable and I will soon present them to the marketing mailing list,it only takes long because of my works increased needs(I am a seasonal Firefighter and it's still summer in Greece) What do you think is the best kept secret of openSUSE? Before I start reading the mailing lists I used to believe that was the stability of the system and the equal treatment to all desktop implementations,Now I believe that the people involved with openSUSE are the best kept secret because of the simplicity and the 'playful cleverness' that apply to. Why do you love to do this? Because there is the joy of receiving and the joy of sharing. I interact with the community of Gnu/Linux generally for a couple of years now and among all other things people from the community taught me is to love to share what I got. And because I love green . How did you start with with Linux/openSUSE? What is your level of experience? Great story and long story. Shortly I started with Gnu/Linux after a sudden crash of my microsoft Windows and never left them since then...I started with openSUSE due to a rather strange hobby I have,installing various distribution to my laptop as a Linux newbie and interact and try to make them crash of impossible for the new user to repair it.I am a 'professional' on it and and I have crashed many 'Stable' distributions in a couple of hours. OpenSUSE 11.2 took me 3 days. So I decide to really try it. My level of experience is intermediate. Request for promotional material for events in Thessaloniki, Greece

Hello friends, The LUG I'm member will participate to the International Trade fair in Thessaloniki, Greece [1]. It will be 11-19 of September 2010. You're welcome to visit my country. We'll setup a small area with computers with some games and we will cooperate with scouts of my city, for the parallel event Kids and Fun [2]. With this area, we will have a booth where we will inform parents and everyone who's interested about FOSS. According to their first page [1], they had 250000 visitors for the whole fair last year.We expect minimum about 10000 Adult visitors and over 25000 kids and teenagers to our event. Since it's Software Freedom Day during the fair period, we discuss with them to have a small booth dedicated to this special day for us. Since it's in discussion along with other parallel activities our LUG (and we as openSUSE ambassadors will be there), we didn't write it on the official SFD page, but we plan to do it until Thursday when all of this will be official. As ambassadors, we'll organize the openSUSE team (with Kostas Koudaras [3] who applied for ambassador) of the LUG to be present there. For that reason I ask you to send as many as cds/dvds you think we can have and also any other promotional material you can provide us. Language isn't a problem since there will be from other countries as well (the page [1] say 20 countries). Although we will translate and give away some kind of general information Brochure or Flyer about openSUSE in Greek. Also, on 1-3rd October 2010, we'll participate in an open event (Park Festival) about the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Scouts but this time we will have also a 2 small talks one for the kids and one for parents-teachers and a tent over the entire course of events. The talks will be about the FOSS and will present 2-3 distributions (openSUSE,Ubuntu,Fedora). I'm thinking to present L-i-f-e to professors-parents. For that event I was told that we expect about 2000. Kostas Koudaras [3] will help me organizing a small booth for openSUSE. So we also need promotional material. At the International Trade Fair (11-19 of September) and the Park Festival (1-3 of October) we will have mostly kids and teenagers so we already planned some games around FOSS and openSUSE but due to the long period of events if anyone has a good suggestion about a game so that we could keep their attention for more please tell us about it... For Software Freedom Day we are planning on visiting a junior High school (we will announce which school in a couple of days when it'll be official from both sides) where we will have the time to make an introduction of openSUSE (after our LUG's presentations of FOSS) to the students and at the end of that we arranged to have a meeting with the school teachers to introduce them openSUSE L-I-F-E and maybe make arrangements for installing it on a class for testing it. We expect on taking great amount of experience from all this and write everything about it on the wiki, along with any kind of problems we may find in our path.We will try and expect on expanding the Greek openSUSE community to another level. We can combine all three events on sending us promotional items, to eliminate costs. small local event in Ramonville

Celebrating Software Freedom Day in College

Dear all, I am planning to celebrate Software Freedom Day on 18th of this month and promote openSUSE and create awareness towards GNU. Please suggest me some ideas. I have requested for 100 promo DVDs but I am still waiting for response. Tell me anything that would make the event more exciting for non GNU users so that they may be interested in adopting SuSE Linux as their desktop OS. I would be uploading the event photos ( after the event) and Proposals and Posters which i have made for advertisement soon in my blog. In my opinion one of the greatest advantages of openSUSE is that emerging companies, universities and state organizations can start using it without risking to spend a lot of money on software/business that might never pay back. That combination is a great advantage of openSUSE over commercial software and software that has no options for commercial support.
