Simon Lees's email after the frist Lifecycle WG meeting: Some of the lifecycle changes being proposed here have some pretty significant impacts on the future of openSUSE's stable distro. The current plan being discussed seems to be only offering the "fasttrack" option for the community. Which would make it basically a copy of centos-stream which as we know didn't go down well in that community and I don't think it would go down well in ours. . . .
For my openSUSE LEAP use case of upstream testing of Uyuni ahead of changes going into SUSE Manager, a CentOS Stream-style fasttrack release would be preferable. E.g,. in the case of the salt bundle becoming the default for SUMA 4.3 clients, having /etc/venv-salt-minion and venv-salt-minion packages visible in Uyuni as an incoming change allowed time to update procedures and salt states. The same concept applied to individual OS components in addition to Uyuni would be helpful. Peter
