This is not a failed local delivery, postfix has tried to deliver to a
mailserver responsible for "Arbuthnot". Either an MX or directly to an
IP address.
What does "host arbuthnot" say ?

I don't know why you have @arbuthnot" appended, normally the address is
just "root".

Seems the root account doesn't exist.

No, for one thing you wouldn't be able to login, for another it would
say "unknown user".
