Smartctl after process:

Ah, let's see.

SMART Attributes Data Structure revision number: 16
Vendor Specific SMART Attributes with Thresholds:
ID# ATTRIBUTE_NAME FLAGS VALUE WORST THRESH FAIL RAW_VALUE

197 Current_Pending_Sector -O--CK 200 200 000 - 1

Any comments?

One Pending out of six!

Much better.

Well, what about the long test? Do that.

The thing to do now is overwrite the bad sector with anything. Assuming
the badblocks program printed the LBA, it is possible to find where that
sector is. Finding the file is far from trivial, though, so you may have
to overwrite the entire partition.
