Re: [opensuse] Update FireFox 49.5 -> 52.2, file dialogs are horrible, how to get FF49 dialogs back?
Wolfgang Rosenauer composed on 2017-06-18 09:47 (UTC+0200):
Are you still talking about Firefox?
In case you do I need to emphasize again that Firefox updates built from
and for openSUSE still use Gtk2 (unless it's TW).
Bless you for that!

Unfortunately, there are people that cannot make do with a single installed web
browser version, such as those trying to get a jump on upcoming UI and other
accessibility and usability regressions by running upstream pre-release
application versions and filing appropriate bugs, before potential damage
becomes real.
One reason is exactly the one you complain about. So to be constructive
only reports to Gtk3 and Mozilla people would make sense at all. It's
not required to keep discussing this in the general opensuse@ list as
the point you bring up was already taken care of in the community as
much as it was possible.
GTK is a liability that has been mutating more forceful and damaging. Non-Gnome
users have long been needing Mozilla products to evolve such that no GTK is
required, a simple way around inexplicably unintuitive hard-to-use disappearing
and tiny UI elements. It's far worse than merely unfortunate that there is no
mainstream QT or other toolkit substitute for FF or SM. It's hard to fix a
problem when the tool for fixing the problem depends on the problem having been
