While IPv6 can use DHCP to assign addresses, it often does not. In
those situations, DHCP is used to hand out things like DNS or NTP server
addresses.

The DHCP servers I use such as 'dnsmasq' integrate with DNS.
(yes the big versions can do it too!)

Does SLAAC do that?

SLAAC is used only to create an address. It has nothing to do with DNS.
