No. I did not.

IIR it was about finding your IP address.


You said you couldn't see you (public) IP address because it was behind
a double-NAT. James brought up the diversion into IPv6, which had
nothing to do with whether you could or couldn't.

As I said, I agree that you're fine with your present IPv4.
Knowing your address, being able to ping out, being able to traceroute,
lets you test and diagnose a whole raft of other issues.

You have had, in the past, other networking problems, with wiked,
network management, wifi .... that you've recently asked about. These
network tools (and others) at least let you wolf-fence the problems that
can arise with networking. Saying that you don't need to know any of
this is not a good attitude. As many have commented, the price we pay
for using Linux is that we have to be out own sysadmins/netadmins.
Not necessarily Gurus, but at least conversant with out basic configuration.
