No, that does not help with this particular issue.

To clarify: gmail intentionally deletes mails that it thinks are
duplicates. Thus, for instance, you never receive a copy from mail you
send yourself to a mail list. Or, if you get both a direct reply and an
onlist copy, you never get the onlist copy.

This "feature" of gmail breaks somewhat mail list experience.

Yes, that is what my experience has been. So, this is the first full thread I have read from this new email address, and it really is much nicer when I see my own emails there within the thread.
