RTF init-scripts. E.g. /etc/init.d/boot.localfs (prior to systemd[0]).
[0] I'll gladly put the one from oS 12.1 on,
if you're unable to find it

Maybe you forgot yourself:
os114host:~ # ls -lgG /etc/init.d/b*/*S*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 10 Oct 3 2011 /etc/init.d/boot.d/ -> ../
lrwxrwxrwx 1 15 Oct 3 2011 /etc/init.d/boot.d/S10boot.localfs ->
Do you know why they exist, and why they are named as they are?

Yes. But they _DO NOT_ exist in 13.1!

ls -d /etc/init.d/boot.*
/etc/init.d/boot.cycle /etc/init.d/boot.dmraid /etc/init.d/
/etc/init.d/boot.d /etc/init.d/boot.local /etc/init.d/boot.udev

Too bloated to crash, it can only bounce gently into the limits set by
the laws of physics and stop, wobbling slightly. -- unknown
