You did issue 'restart' not 'stop' if that was your intention.

Correct. "restart" stops the segfaults for ~10 minutes and then they
resume. I did stop "Nepomuk Desktop File Indexer" to stop filling disk
space with log entries. I will periodically after updates resume indexing
to test viability. It appears merely suspending the action halts the
segfaults (that tidbit *might* be relevant).

Bit the bullet and preliminary report, situation corrected. I removed
~/.local/share/akonadi and ~/.config/akonadi after stopping akonadiserver.
Will report success or failure in the am, too late to stay at the
