On openSUSE 12.3, lvm2 was built without '--with-thin=internal' to
enable thin provisioning. Sometime after 12.3, the package spec was
updated to build with this option. I wanted to see if updating to
the package from 13.1 would do the trick:

# rpm --upgrade --test lvm2-2.02.98-0.28.14.1.x86_64.rpm
package lvm2-2.02.98-20.2.1.x86_64 (which is newer than
lvm2-2.02.98-0.28.14.1.x86_64) is already installed

"which is newer" ??

20.2.1 > 0.28.14.1

Package releases numbers are generally "restarted" with every
distribution version. They are per-repository and every distribution
version is built in own repository.

Ah, I knew it was something like that, thanks.
