Re: [opensuse] [long story] HP server/NIC/router/gateway frustration SOLVED
On 2014-01-28 16:00 (GMT-0500) Felix Miata composed:

So, step next: get any openSUSE from 11.4 up through 13.2 to reach the
internet through both routers. Is there something special that needs to be
done WRT routing or DNS setup for such a router configuration to succeed?
Anything else I'm missing?

Both routers were configured to use the same subnet. Changing the new one to use 192.168.2.1 instead solved the problem that chaining the routers created. I determined this was the problem based upon a private reply to my OP, while using my own openSUSE HD with both 13.1 and 12.3 in the HP. I also confirmed that the motherboard NIC was in fact unusable. Now with the original HD back in the HP, Windows 2011 Server brought the network and internet up automatically. So, "something special" was indeed necessary, and my LAN was not disturbed by Windows! :-)
