- I prefer booting in text mode with all the gory text messages
passing by. A splash screen bores me to death, so I disable all
those, too.

Simple setting the plymouth theme to "details" does that.

Good to know; but as I said, I also need to reduce the size of initrd;
disabling is not enough.

I use this on grub kernel line:

showopts vga=0x31a plymouth.enable=0 splash=verbose console=tty1
loglevel=3
