## Path: Desktop/Display manager
## Description: settings to generate a proper displaymanager config
## Type: string(kdm,kdm3,kdm4,xdm,gdm,wdm,entrance,console)

In my 11.4 partition, upgraded from (probably) 11.2:

## Path: Desktop/Display manager
## Description: settings to generate a proper displaymanager config
## Type: string(kdm,kdm3,kdm4,xdm,gdm,wdm,console)
## Default: ""

See? no default setting, certainly not kde3. What you show comes from a much
earlier version left
on the hard disk.
Ah, an expert! No not kde, kdm3 script is used, in 121, and 122
It has been a clean install, on a formatted / drive.
And if you use gnome, you will have the gnome displaymanager..

Al this is beside the point.

In fact, your file has been edited, because the variable is at the end, far
from the comments that
pertain to it:

Few times via yast tried to change the theme...

DISPLAYMANAGER_XSERVER="Xorg" ## Path: Desktop/Display manager ##
Description: settings
to generate a proper displaymanager config ## Type:
string(kdm,kdm3,kdm4,xdm,gdm,wdm,entrance,console) ## Default: "" # # Here
you can set the
default Display manager (kdm/xdm/gdm/wdm/entrance/console). # all changes in
this file require
a restart of the displaymanager # DISPLAYMANAGER="kdm"

Your file is broken in parts. You can see that the default displaymanger above
is empty (your
file), not kdm3 - as we all have :-)

You are right, a real expert...

Where comes that incomplete first paragraph of yours, who knows.
