[opensuse] What is the proper entry for /etc/hosts

What is the proper entry for in /etc/hosts? I have seen
that is deprecated so that leaves a problem with dnsdomainname if you
remove the entry and leave the entry as: localhost.localdomain localhost yourRealHostname

In this situation, dnsdomainname resolves to localdomain:

15:39 phoenix:~> dnsdomainname

Setting the entry as: localhost yourRealHostname

fixes the return of dnsdomainname, but does not having localdomain cause
problems as well? What say the gurus?
