# fdisk -l
can help to find out what partitions are created and then Julien can give
names and purpose to that partitions.

Maybe simple
# chown -cR juk4 /home/juk4/*
is all that is needed to establish correct ownership.
Option -c should report changes.

Then ~/.xsession-errors , as Lubos suggested, can tell more what is going on.
