I have the Canon ip 2600 cd and it is installed in Windows Vista, how
do I install it in Open Suse? I am pretty ignorant about this.

As my brother-in-law was till he bought such 'paperweight' - that's the
state reported by
http://openprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Canon-ip2600

IIRC Canon offers something but this is closed source and binary only
stuff and therefore isn't included and maintained by the OSS system
vendors.

See
http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Canon-PIXMA_iP2600

Note that we cannot provide any kind of support for
third-party software like non-free closed-source binary-only
drivers from maufacturers - you can only ask for help or
get support for such software from where you got it.

I wonder if a "Canon ip2600" and a "Canon PIXMA iP2600"
are really two different devices?

There is some known naming confusion, compare

and
