It might be broken again... this happens if you're updating from Factory.

Have you set it up to point to any particular directory yet? Maybe
the place it is pointing at is currently empty?

Well, since my last post I tried the old windows trick of rebooting my
computer (it usually runs 24/7, except for kernel upgrades) and all is working
as it should.
