I dunno about HP. My HP Deskjet 500 I bought in '92 seems to be on the blink.
It might be giving up the ghost.

Seriously, though, I have had no issues under openSUSE with either HP or Epson. I have several family members with either HP or Epson and they all work flawlessly.
The hplip program is a true benefit.
I've had Cannon and Epson as well as HP. I currently have an HP all-in-one attached to my wife's Windows XP and a discarded HP Color Laserjet 4500N. Both work flawlessly. Having been employed by HP in the Linux area, I know that HP spends a lot of bucks in the Linux area. Additionally, Brother printers seem to perform well under Linux.
