that dirty word "command line", because things like configure, make or
'make install' have to be typed and not clicked.

That's not the point.

I'm not scared of the command line, that's not the problem. The problem is the spec file and associated procedure, that's a skilled job. We use the command line "checkinstall" utility because, even if not perfect, it is very simple.
