An AP dispatch from Brussels 26 January, printed in the NY Times, 27 Jan
issue, quotes the European Committee for Interoperable Systems--apparently a
trade group made up of Microsoft rivals, including 2 Linux vendors--but not
SuSE--who said "Microsoft's XAML markup language--which it said was
positioned to replace the current Web page language HTML--was designed from
the ground up to be dependent on Windows." They went on to say, "The very
same practices the European Commission found to be illegal almost three years
ago have now been implemented in Vista."

The Times headline, on page C9 (Business Section) is, "Rivals Voice Complaints
About Microsoft's New System." It may be possible to locate the story on the
'net, but I don't have time for look for it right now.

BTW, this is NOT ot--the Web markup language in use, or to become in use,
affects us all.
